Pressure cookers and instant pot work very similarly. Because a pressure cooker helps the food to cook through pressure quickly. But instant pot has many options and can function in many different ways. The Pressure cooker doesn’t have all the modern functions but it works absolutely like an instant pot.

What Is The Difference Between A Pressure Cooker And An Instant Pot?

There are lots of differences between a pressure cooker and an instant pot. Such as:

How To Cook Different Types Of Food In A Pressure Cooker Instead Of An Instant Pot? 

Pressure cooker and instant pot cook kind of in the same way but instant pot has more buttons which work in different ways. A pressure cooker doesn’t have any buttons. You need to know the ways to cook different foods in a pressure cooker like an instant pot. Such as:

1. Cook Rice: 

Wash your rice properly at least 3 to 4 times until the rice becomes clean. Then place the rice in a pressure cooker with water. For one cup of rice, take 2 cups of water. 

Then close the lid of the pressure cooker and let it cook. After one whistle rice will be ready. Usually, it takes 3 to 4 minutes to cook the rice. Lastly, serve your fluffy rice. 

2. Make Yogurt: 

You can cook yogurt with a pressure cooker without any button. Boil milk with yogurt stater after you close the lid of the pressure cooker. After one whistle, switch off the stove. Then let the yogurt mixture cool down. Cover the yogurt with a blanket to make a thick and firmer yogurt.

3. Cook Lentils: 

Some lentils need to be soaked overnight before cooking. You can cook them instantly in a pressure cooker instead of an instant pot. For 1 cup of lentils, add 2 cups of water and half teaspoon of baking soda. 

Cover the lid and wait until it cooks. After 7 whistles on the pressure cooker, turn off the stove. Your lentils are done cooking!

4. Chicken Stock: 

Take 3 cups of water into the pressure cooker. Add 3 to 4 big pieces of chicken, garlic and ginger paste, celery, and carrot. Then close the lid of the pressure cooker. 

Now, wait until 5 whistles. Lastly, turn off the stove and take out the lid. You would find a rich chicken broth. If you want to cook beef broth it’s the same process but wait until 7 whistles. Because beef takes more time to cook than chicken.

5. Cake: 

It’s a bit tough to make a cake in a pressure cooker like an instant pot. But you can do it. Separate 4 egg whites with a half cup of sugar and beat eggs until it creates foam. Then add the egg yolk, Three tablespoon butter, ⅓ cup of flour, and flavour. Mix everything together. 

Then pour the mixture into the pressure cooker. Take a pan and preheat it for 5 mins. Then put the pressure cooker on the pan and close the lid. But don’t close the entire lid because the pressure cooker acts as mould for the cake. Cook the cake in low heat for 30 to 40 minutes. Lastly, take out your spongy cake from the pressure cooker.

Types Of Pot That Helps You Cook Food By Pressure:

There are two types of pot. Both of them work the same but one has lots of functions. While the other has no buttons. Such as

1. Type 1 Generation: 

It’s an old version of an instant pot which is called a stove pressure cooker. You can use it in a multifunctional way but a stove pressure cooker doesn’t have any extra switches like an electric pressure cooker.

2. Type 2 Generation:

 It’s the modern version of a pressure cooker. It has lots of buttons by which you can make food only by pressing buttons. This pressure cooker is an electrical device you can’t use for stove cooking.

5 Benefits Of Using Pressure Cooker Instead Of An Instant Pot:

There are lots of benefits of using a pressure cooker instead of an instant pot. Both work the same but there are lots of differences in cooking. So I am going to write about the 5 benefits of using a pressure cooker. Such as

1. Nutrient: 

Cooking in normal utensils loses lots of food nutrients while evaporating. On the other hand, cooking in a pressure cooker and an instant pot saves that food nutrient. 

Cooking in a pressure cooker helps to save food’s vitamin and mineral value as well. Alternatively, cooking in a pressure cooker saves time like an instant pot. 

2. Energy Saver: 

You can save lots of energy while cooking in a pressure cooker. It will save electricity and cost you less than an instant pot.

3. Time Saver:

You can create lots of one-pot dishes in a pressure cooker. As it doesn’t have many functions, it’s not complicated to use which will save time in cooking.

4. Provides Cool Environment: 

While cooking with normal utensils your kitchen becomes hot with all the heat. But while cooking in a pressure cooker it saves 60 to 70% of time and heat. This will keep the kitchen environment cool.

5. Less Hassle:

You can easily clean up the pressure cooker whenever you want. Due to the lid of the pressure cooker, it saves from any food splash. Also when cooking is finished there is only one item to clean. So this function makes every work hassle-free.

3 Disadvantages Of Using Pressure Cooker Instead Of An Instant Pot: 

A Pressure cooker is not better than an instant pot. Because an instant pot is multifunctional but a pressure cooker isn’t. I am going to share about three disadvantages of a cooker instead of an instant pot. Such as

1. Time:

The biggest turn-off about a pressure cooker is that you have to learn to cook different recipes in a pressure cooker. Also, a pressure cooker takes a few minutes more than an instant pot.

2. Needs Timing: 

In a pressure cooker, you can’t set the temperature according to your desire. So you need to maintain the timing. Otherwise, food can overcook or undercook. You can’t open the lid of the pressure cooker while cooking. So you have to start over.

3. Overcook: 

While cooking you can’t check the temperature nor the food. Sometimes it can overcook your food by pressure. So make sure of the recipe before cooking in a pressure cooker. 

Is Pressure Cooker Toxic-Free Like An Instant Pot?

Pressure cookers are toxic-free like an instant pot. Because they contain heavy metals among which mercury is in most parts of a pressure cooker. It is recyclable and eco-friendly. So it’s very safe for health to cook in a pressure cooker. 

Is Pressure Cooker More Expensive Than An Instant Pot?

No, the pressure cooker is less expensive than an instant pot. You can get a pressure cooker and an instant pot from 6 to 8 quarts sizes. A 6-quart size pressure cooker costs around $50 where a 6-quart size instant pot costs around $80. The instant pot is more expensive because it runs through electricity and it’s multifunctional.

Can You Control Temperature In A Pressure Cooker Like In An Instant Pot?

You can’t control the temperature in a pressure cooker like in an instant pot. Because the pressure cooker doesn’t have any kind of function to control its temperature. You need to cook them on the stove according to fire speed. 

Is a Cuisinart Electric Pressure Cooker the same as an instant pot?

A cuisinart electric pressure cooker isn’t entirely the same as an instant pot. This type of pressure cooker is designed like a stove cooking pressure cooker. It doesn’t have any extra functions like an instant pot. So you can only pressure cook food. 

On the other hand, you can do slow cooking, pressure cooking, and even use other functions in an instant pot. So definitely a cuisinart electric pressure cooker isn’t the same as an instant pot.
